Media Prep Utilities:
Most Digital Media (CompactFlash, SmartMedia, Memory
Sticks) readers come with a utility to prep the
media. These utilities are accessible from Windows
Explorer, My Computer or from The Start Menu. Once
these utilities are run the images that existed
on the card prior to the prep are no longer retrievable.
Formatting:
When formatting a card it is recommended that you
use the command line formatter in Windows unless
you do not wish to recover the images. Do not format
the card in the camera, as many cameras do a destructive
format, and the data will not be recoverable.
Hard Disk Drives:
While you may see an option for disk drives, and
PhotoMedia® Recovery will scan disk drives,
the option is available to accommodate cameras that
mount as drives. Because of the large amount of
images on a hard disk drive and thumb nails created
during the recovery it is not recommended that PhotoMedia®
Recovery is run on hard disks.
Camera/MP3 Combinations:
Because of the nature of the MP3 Format, images
deleted from cameras that support both formats may
not be retrievable.
